Drunken drivers will not be the only hazard for motorists to contend with tonight during New Year’s Eve. The National Weather Service has posted a Dense Fog Advisory for the area.
As of now, the advisory will continue through 9:00pm tonight. Hazardous driving conditions are expected due to low visibility. Drivers are urged to slow down, refrain from using their high beams, and leave plenty of distance ahead of their vehicles.
There is a possibility the fog could continue through the overnight hours and the National Weather Service is keeping a close eye on it. A warm front remains to the south and is struggling to move north. Abundant low level moisture with weak surface winds is the reason the fog has stayed in place, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain showers are also predicted to continue through the overnight hours before tapering off by daybreak.
