Vail’s Gate Firefighters Save Commercial Building

Firefighters from the Vail’s Gate Fire Department saved a commercial building from burning down late last night.

The Vail’s Gate Fire Department was called out to a building fire at 833 Blooming Grove Turnpike just before 11:00 pm last night. Fire department units first arriving on the scene found heavy fire blowing out the rear of the building.

The incident commander summonsed the Washingtonville Fire Department to the scene with a FAST Team to provide additional coverage in case any Vail’s Gate firefighters became trapped inside the building.

Vail’s Gate firefighters quickly attacked the fire and began ventilating the roof of the building. They were able to completely extinguish the fire within ten minutes of their arrival. The fire was knocked down so quickly that the Washingtonville Fire Department had not even arrived yet. They were subsequently cancelled.

According to representatives from the Vail’s Gate Fire Department, a total of 32 volunteer firefighters turned out to attack the blaze. “The members are proud to provide our exceptional service to the residents of New Windsor,” the department issued in a written statement.

The commercial establishment is currently vacant. It was previously used as a medical office building. It is located in front of the Knox Village Apartments, which is diagonally across from the Vail’s Gate Fire Department and Kingswood Garden Apartments.
