An 18 year-old man and a juvenile were arrested for gun possession after allegedly attempting to flee from state troopers in the City of Newburgh, the New York State Police announced today.
At approximately 11:00 pm on Friday, troopers stopped a 2014 Mercedes-Benz on Lander Street for an alleged vehicle and traffic law violation. As police approached the vehicle, two passengers reportedly attempted to flee the scene. Police were subsequently able to detain all occupants of the vehicle.
Troopers searched the vehicle and discovered a .357 Magnum revolver and a .380 semi-automatic pistol.
Nelson Coronado, age 18, and the juvenile, both from the City of Newburgh, were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, a felony. They were arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court. Coronado was remanded to Orange County Jail pending bail. The juvenile was released on his own recognizance. The driver of the vehicle was issued four traffic tickets.
