Students from Fostertown Elementary School in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District recently learned how to create a musical production and subsequently had the opportunity to play it out on stage.
Students successfully produced the show “Schoolhouse Rock.” The youngsters worked together with Fostertown Creative Academic Specialist Amy Kosturik to learn how to create a show.
First graders in Alison Kan and Nicole Porcelli’s classes performed the first act, titled “A Noun is a Person, Place, or Thing.” The second act, called “Interplanet Janet,” was carried out by students Oniveah Brown, Milania Rivera, and Gianna Tarallo.
Some students chose to learn backstage roles while others enjoyed acting out the roles under the spotlights on stage. They worked together to create digital scenery and props. They additionally operated the sound and light systems, worked the curtain, and recorded the entire production.
“I am so proud of each and every student that participated both as a performer and behind the scenes,” Kosturik declared.
