Hallmark Christmas Movie About Aspiring Rockette Filmed in Newburgh

A Hallmark Channel holiday scheduled to air this November was filmed at a studio in the City of Newburgh.

The movie “A Holiday Spectacular” was filmed at Umbra Stages on Scobie Drive in the City of Newburgh last winter. The production studio is located near Pierces Drive. The movie will feature the Radio City Rockettes.

The Christmas movie will follow a character named Maggie who sneaks away to New York City to make her secret dream come true: Dancing live on a stage in the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. The plot includes the young lady putting her high-society wedding plans on hold.

Although part of the movie was also filmed at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, a majority of it was shot on location at the City of Newburgh studio.

The movie is part of the Hallmark Channel’s 2022 Countdown to Christmas programming. It will star Ginna Claire Mason, who played Glinda in Broadway’s award-winning show Wicked. It will also star Ann-Margret, a Tony Award-nominated entertainer, as well as Eve Plumb.

For the movie, the Rockettes were choreographed by their director and choreographer Julie Branam. The Rockettes will be featured throughout the film in various performance numbers.

“This heartwarming story storyline gives audiences a peek into the passion and dedication that the Rockettes have for this beloved dance company and the incredible sisterhood that is at the core of this legendary line,” said Jessica Tuttle, Senior Vice President of Productions for Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp., the parent company of the Radio City Rockettes.

The exact air date has not been set, although it is confirmed it will air this November.
