Richard J. (Dick) Rice passed away in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 18, 2022. He was 80 years old.
Richard was born on June 22, 1942 to John and Alice (Smith) Rice in Troy, NY.
Dick was a longtime Officer of the NYS Retired Public Employees Association (RPEA), proudly serving with other amazing people as Secretary. He was also the Chapter Chairman Chairperson for the Mid-Hudson East Chapter of the RPEA. Dick retired from New York State service in 1995, and his 33-year career was mostly devoted to the computer field. Dick spent 23 years of his career working in the Newburgh Office of Equalization and Assessment. This helped to create the strong bond he felt with the Newburgh community.
Dick was a proud member of the Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, where he often served as an usher at the Saturday evening Mass.
Dick played competitive racquetball as a long-time member of the All-Sport Health Club in Fishkill, NY. He played racquetball as long as his body would let him, and enjoyed working out three times each week. The racquetball community provided Dick with an amazing amount of joy during his lifetime, and he treasured the many stories and memories.

Rice; his sons, Jeffrey and Brian Kerman; daughter-in-law, Noelle Kerman; granddaughter, Ella Kerman; siblings, Edward and Jack Rice, and sister-in-law, Jill Rice; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Rice side of the family.
