National Night Out activities are already being planned across the region. This year’s nation-wide event falls on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It is typically held on the first Tuesday of August every year.
For the first time ever, New Windsor is jumping on board to join the activities. The Town Board is presenting the event to create a town-wide night of fun with family, friends and neighbors. It will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Kristi Babcock Memorial Park on Mount Airy Road. The night will feature a rock climbing wall, bounce house, first responder field games, police K9 demonstrations, fire trucks, hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, and more.
The Town of Newburgh Police Department and Recreation Department are joining forces to hold their event at Chadwick Lake Park from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The event is expected to be a fun-filled night with food, music, games, and more. Everything being provided at the event is free to the public.
The City of Newburgh was the first in the area to begin participating in National Night Out nearly two decades ago. At the time, numerous businesses set up outside or opened their doors across the city. During more recent years, the event has been streamlined into one large event. Although this year’s participation has not yet been officially announced, it is expected the city will hold the event on lower Broadway near the City Hall. Last year’s activities ran from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and included free food, a bouncy house, entertainment, and youth basketball games.
