This gives new meaning to the phrase “public servant.”
Police officers from the City of Newburgh were out barbecuing food for members of the community last night during a pop-up barbecue. The food frenzy was held at the location of the new Mobile Police Precinct at South and Liberty Streets.
The barbecue was hosted by the City of Newburgh Police Department, but it was done so in collaboration with the City of Newburgh Department of Public Works, Water Department, and Recreation Department.
Free food, children’s events, and conversations with police officers were all available to the public. The Salvation Army showed up with a food truck to contribute to the event.
The pop-up barbecue attracted many children and adults from the local neighborhoods.
Food and time was donated by the Salvation Army, Blaac Vanilla Cafe, and Handsome Devil.
