Candidate Information, Voting Locations for Tomorrow’s Primary

Orange County residents will head out to the polls to vote in this year’s Primary Election tomorrow, Tuesday, 6/28/2022. Registered Democrats and Republicans will be able to vote.

For Democrats, the positions of Governor and Lieutenant Governor are open for voting.

For Republicans, the positions of Governor and Orange County Sheriff are up for election. Alison Esposito will run for Lieutenant Governor in the General Election, but she is unopposed in tomorrow’s Primary.

The Newburgh News has compiled a listing of all candidates and their political parties, as well as sample ballots. In the interest of fairness, the parties and candidates are listed in alphabetical order.

Democratic Candidates:


  • Kathy C. Hochul
    Kathy Hochul is the current, 57th Governor of New York State. She is from Buffalo. She previously served as a Town of Hamburg councilwoman, Erie County Clerk, U.S. Congresswoman, and New York State Lieutenant Governor.
  • Thomas R. Suozzi
    Thomas Suozzi is a U.S. Congressman serving New York’s 3rd District. He is from Glen Cove. He previously served as the Glen Cove mayor and Nassau County Executive.
  • Jumaane D. Williams
    Jumaane Williams is an elected New York City Public Advocate. He is from Brooklyn. He previously served as a Brooklyn councilman.

Lieutenant Governor:

  • Ana Maria Archila
    Ana Maria Archila co-founded and led several grassroots progressive organizations. She is the running-mate of Jumaane D. Williams.
  • Antonio Delgado
    Antonio Delgado is the current Lieutenant Governor. He is from Schenectady. He previously served as a U.S. Congressman serving New York’s 19th District. He is Hochul’s running-mate.
  • Diana Reyna
    Diana Reyna is a member of numerous community and neighborhood advocacy groups. She is from New York City. She previously served as a Queens councilwoman and Deputy Brooklyn Borough President. She is the running-mate of Thomas Suozzi.

Republican Candidates:


  • Rob Astorino
    Rob Astorino is a business and media consultant, and serves as an independent director on two company boards. He is from Westchester County. He previously served as the Westchester County Executive.
  • Andrew Giuliani
    Andrew Giuliani is currently a board member of the United States Holocaust Museum. He is from New York City. He previously served as the Associate Director of the Office of Public Liaison for the Trump Administration and a contributor to Newsmax TV.
  • Harry Wilson
    Harry Wilson is a businessman. He is from Johnstown. He previously served for President Barack Obama on the Auto Industry Crisis Task Force and as a senior advisor for the U.S. Treasury Department.
  • Lee Zeldin
    Lee Zeldin is an attorney. He also serves a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve. He is from Suffolk County. He previously served as a New York State Senator, U.S. Congressman for New York’s 1st District, and active duty in multiple capacities for the U.S. Army. He was deployed in Iraq as a paratrooper.

Orange County Sheriff:

  • Paul Arteta
    Paul Arteta is the Deputy Chief of Police in the Village of Montgomery. He recently retired as a Captain with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Kenneth T. Jones
    Kenneth Jones is the current Undersheriff of Orange County and is also an Assistant Adjunct Professor for SUNY Sullivan. He previously served as a New York State Police BCI Investigator and the Statewide Secretary/Treasurer of the NYSPIA.
