New Windsor will soon be home to a new Orange County Veterans’ Center. The organization is opening at the former Disabled American Veterans (DAV) location on Lawrence Avenue in the Ducktown section of town.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00am. All are welcome to come out and support our local veterans. A $25 donation is requested for those attending.
Event activities will include music, food vendors, drinks, military vehicles on display, veteran support services, and games. Honored invited guests will include representatives from New York State, Orange County, and the Town of New Windsor. The grand opening is sponsored by the Orange County Chamber of Commerce and the Chosen Few Leathernecks MC, Inc.
The organization has spent a considerable amount of time renovating the former DAV building, beginning in 2020. They wished to open sooner, but the COVID pandemic over the last two years hampered their efforts.
The new center will be open to veterans from all branches. It was founded by Marine veterans who enjoy helping the comradeship of other veterans. The founders range in age from their 20s through their 60s. They support the Hudson Valley Honor Flight, Semper Fi Odyssey, and other worthy veteran organizations.
