It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved mother and grandmother. Esther Pekar, age 97, a long time resident of Newburgh N.Y. Passed away the evening of Sunday, June 19, 2022.
Esther was born on December 14, 1924 in Newburgh N.Y. Most would remember her by being associated with Beansey’s Towing which she owned with her predeceased husband of 54 years Edward J. Pekar Sr. “Beansey”. Esther was also predeceased by her parents Mary and Peter Petrillo as well as brothers, Ralph Petrillo, Peter Petrillo, William Petrillo, and Joseph Petrillo.
She was survived by her son Edward J. Pekar Jr. Grandchildren Kimberly Palffy husband Kevin, Kelly Kagan husband David, Stephen Pekar wife Elizabeth, Amanda Meyer husband Patrick, Tiffany Del Sasso husband Erin, and Jonathan Pekar wife Alyssa. Great grandchildren Ariana Monaghan-DePuy husband Elliot, Devin Molinar, Chelsea Monaghan-Wyckoff husband James, Alyssa Meyer, Dylan Meyer, Chloe Pekar, Anthony Meyer, Ella Del Sasso, and Ryla Pekar. As well as her great great grandson Emmett DePuy and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Esther was an incredible, caring ,and strong woman who didn’t put up with anyone’s nonsense and fought all the way to the end. She lived a full life with many loved ones and will be truly missed by everyone.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 2-4pm at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh N.Y. 12550. Interment of cremains will be held Tuesday, July 19th at 12pm at St. Francis Cemetery.
