A tractor trailer carrying gravel crashed into a business establishment in the Town of Poughkeepsie this morning, leaving one person dead and another trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building.
Shortly before 11:00am this morning, first responders were dispatched to Junior’s Lounge on Salt Point Turnpike for the accident.
Pleasant Valley firefighters discovered a woman trapped inside of debris on top of the tractor trailer. The woman was reported to be in an upstairs apartment when the truck slammed into the building. After firefighters removed her, she was sent to a local hospital for evaluation. However, she reportedly had no serious injuries.
The driver of the truck was deceased. The truck was owned by MJD Construction from Pawling, NY.
