On Saturday, June 18, 2022, Edythe Hoben-deLaehne, 81, was led home by angels. Daughter of the late John Millard Hoben and Genevieve Alice Lake, she was born November 22, 1940, in Newburgh. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas deLaehne and the two were married June 8, 1984, in Staten Island.
Edythe loved genealogy and writing and so started her avid love of research of her family’s history dating back to the Mayflower and the Revolutionary War. Edythe was an active member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and belonged to multiple chapters. Her current membership is with the Quassaick Chapter in Newburgh and the Bytown Chapter in Ontario, Canada. She was a past member and Treasurer of the Abigail Bartholomew Chapter in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Edythe was a past member of the Red Hat Ladies in Daytona Beach, Florida and past member of the Winona Lake Firehouse Ladies Auxiliary, Newburgh. She had no fear of trying new things, whether pursing her love of cooking and catering large events to finishing Pharmacy Technician Training school.
We will cherish all the memories and will continue on your legacy. You will be missed by all whose lives you touched.
She is survived by her daughters, Ellen & husband Dr. Andrei Munzer, Wallkill, NY and Jennifer Pizzuto & husband Dave, South River, NJ; sons John Victor Nosek & wife Wendy, Walden, NY and Richard Nosek & wife Tammy, of Newburgh, NY; Sister, Mary Defazio; nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Jessica DePetro-Lopez & husband Juan, George Vega, Mathew Gayton, Lyndsie Nosek, Ricky Nosek, Kristofer Dowe, Tiffani Nosek & husband Mike Baker, Erin Nosek, Sam Munzer; Lilliana and Sabrina Pizzuto; great-grandchildren, Jack DePetro, Carter Pruitt, Lyla Vega, Antonio Lopez, Savannah Baker, Summer Baker; and longtime friend Adel Fredenburg. She was predeceased by her siblings, the late Laura Mae Hoben, John Hoben and Robert “Bob” Hoben, all of Newburgh; and special friends, Judy Sarvis, Marlene Connelly and RoseMary Cayhill.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Monday, June 20 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, June 21 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Newburgh, with burial following in The New Windsor Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to her long time supported charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in her honor.
