Newburgh Free Academy’s Club SEL (Social Emotional Learning) hosted a variety of activities at the high school’s Main Campus during the month of May. The series of events were part of Mental Health Awareness Month.
Club members wrote messages in chalk along the front of NFA with positive messages. The chalked notes reminded all students and staff that they are not alone in their mental health struggles and can get through it.
In addition, Club SEL hosted a Zumba event to promote self-care. Some of the students and faculty who attended the event enjoyed it so much that they have continued taking the Zumba instructor’s class in the community.
Members also handed out green ribbons and created a bulletin board to educate and bring awareness to mental health.
