The Goldbacks Youth Football & Cheer awarded their first ever scholarships on Thursday. The organization will honor the recipients and their families during a Comedy Night, which is open to the public.
Members of the league’s executive board attended the Newburgh Free Academy Scholarship Event on Thursday. They presented their first ever scholarships to two students. This was the only youth sports program to present a scholarship at the event out of the 84 awarded.
The scholarship recipients were Ryan Conn and Aiden Harrison. Both students received $750 apiece.
On June 18, 2022, the league will hold their fourth annual Comedy Night event at the Ramada Inn in Newburgh. The event will honor the two young men and their families. Tickets are $40 per person and include the comedy show, an appetizer buffet, and a cash bar. Raffles and a 50/50 will be held. All proceeds will benefit the organization. Doors open at 6:30pm and the comedy show begins at 8:00pm.
Larry DiGregorio, a retired New Windsor Police detective who is now a comedian at Parx Casino, will join in the entertainment. Comedy Central’s Von DeCarlo, as well as Borgata Casino’s Tom Briscoe, will also be on hand.
