Students from the Gardnertown and Vails Gate Elementary Schools in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District competed in a 5K race at Legoland on Sunday.
Gardnertown Girls on the Run trained for ten weeks to run three miles while also learning lifelong skills such as making good friends, being a good friend, making healthy choices, having positive self-esteem, and finding their self-confidence. They also held a practice 5K beforehand in which the girls ran three miles for the first time.
Vails Gate Girls on the Run also trained for several weeks leading up to the event. During the training, the girls learned valuable life skills and made memories that will last a lifetime.
