Heritage Middle School Holds 80’s Prom Style 5K Race

The Newburgh Enlarged City School District’s Heritage Middle School recently hosted their fifth annual 5K race with a special theme – 1980’s prom style.

The school created a promotional video, which attracted dozens of enthusiastic runners to participate. They wore their best 1980s prom gear or official race day tuxedo t-shirts. Students were encouraged to wear crazy suits, poofy prom dresses, and tacky tuxedos.

The first 50 finishers received medals and the top winners earned trophies.

The event was organized by teachers Chris Marino and Aileen Tobac. The Newburgh Free Academy Air Force JROTC, as well as singers Mia Bilyou and Manuel Paron, helped out. The New Windsor Police Department kept runners safe throughout the course.
