John T. Carton of Newburgh, New York, entered into eternal rest on May 25, 2022. He was 60 years old.
Son of the late Patrick Carton and Eileen (Murphy) Carton, John was born on August 19, 1961 in Bronx, New York. He attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine, Bronx, NY, Cornwall Central High School, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences from SUNY Plattsburgh.
He was employed by IBM for 22 years prior to starting his own business of improving the energy efficiency of homes. John was actively involved in his community, coaching multiple sports that his children were involved in. He also volunteered his time to the Puppies Behind Bars program. John loved to travel with his family to Ireland, Germany, and yearly trips to the Outer Banks. John loved watching the Lakers, Mets, and Rams. If you were to ask John where his happy place was, it was in his yard designing his landscaping. Most of all he loved golfing with his son and dancing to “I Hope You Dance” with his beautiful daughter.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Fran (Rizzuto) Carton, son Ryan Carton (Corinne), daughter Sarah Carton. He is also survived by his sisters LiliAnn (Dana) Putnam, Christine (George) Gardner and Irene (Blake) Mitchell, and brother Robert (Teresa) Carton; his mother-in-law Peg Rizzuto; as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
John was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Eileen, brothers Patrick and Dennis, and father-in law Robert Rizzuto.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Catholic mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, June 2 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh.
