Loreta Sirio

June 3, 1920 – May 24, 2022 (age 101)

New Windsor, NY

Loreta Sirio of New Windsor, New York passed from this life at the age of 101, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on May 24, 2022.  She was the daughter of the late Gaetano & Angela (DiTrocchio) Pietrobuono.

She was born in Fondi, Italia on June 3, 1920.  She married her childhood sweetheart Tommaso Sirio on August 13, 1941. Together they raised their daughter’s and on December 23, 1966 they immigrated to the United States and resided in New Windsor, New York.  Loreta was employed by Rocco Handbag in Newburgh as a seamstress until her retirement in 1979.

She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother whom enjoyed gardening, cooking and being surrounded by her family.  Some of our fondest memories of mother & Nonni was her tenacious, resilient attitude.  When we all new deep down she had a heart of gold.  She was the Matriarch of our family and the center of our world.  She will always be remembered for her sense of exuberance for life.  When asked what was her secret to longevity, her response was “have a glass of wine each day to keep your brain sharp”.

Loreta is survived by her loving daughter Maddalena Marchetta, granddaughter’s Antonietta Chiocchi (Anthony), Silvana Riccitelli (Sergio), Loreta Dubaldi (John) her great grandchildren Patricia Stoutenburg (Fiancé Matt Vodras), Tommaso Tompkins (Juliana), Michael Dubaldi, Dominick Tompkins (Jessica), Mario Dubaldi, Stefania Riccitelli, Johnny Dubaldi also her great great grandchildren Wyatt, Faith, Brnlyi, Christian, Joseph, Camila and many nieces and nephews.

Loreta was predeceased by her husband Tommaso Sirio of 55 years and her two daughters Anna Sirio (1950), and her name’s sake Anna Sirio (2020). Her son in Law Bruno Marchetta, sisters Gina Pietrobuono (Gerardo), Maria Fiorelli (Louis), her brother Aurelio Pietrobuono, father-in-law & mother-in-law Silvio & Maddalena Sirio, great granddaughter Hadley Dubaldi.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Monday, May 30 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.  A Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 31 at Sacred Heart Church, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.

We would like to thank her family physicians Dr. Nicholas Bambino & Dr, Manita Sawhney for their exceptional care over many years.  Her amazing aides Lorrain Miller, Asenah Ebanks, Maria Sanchez for their support, compassion & care during her illness and to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties whom showed our family such compassion in a short time.
