Town of Newburgh Police Officer Dillon Benedict visited the Gardnertown Elementary School on Tuesday to interact and have lunch with the students.
The children had plenty of questions for Benedict as he went from table to table in the school cafeteria. The students wanted to know about his experiences as a police officer and if he has fun doing his job. Mostly, they wanted the secret to the card tricks Benedict performed at each table. The children were in awe each time he successfully guessed the card they selected from the shuffled deck of cards.
Benedict was asked by several students to come back to their school as he brightened their day.
Benedict’s visit comes on the heels of National Police Week, which was created to pay homage and honor those officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.
