Vails Gate Students Read in the Dark

Kindergartners and fifth grade students at the Newburgh Enlarged City School District’s Vails Gate Elementary School had a flashlight reading celebration in which they read in the dark last Friday.

The fifth graders chose to read with the kindergartners. Teacher Ms. Kelleher shut off all the lights, lowered the blinds, and provided flashlights to the children to read in the dark together.

The fifth graders meet with kindergartners every Friday to do special activities together. The students from both grades have a chance to learn from each other.
