HOH Hosts Career Day

Students from Horizons-on-the-Hudson Elementary School recently participated in Career Day.

Students from Ms. Amaro and Ms. Fox’s fifth grade class have been discussing what their lives may look like after graduating Newburgh Free Academy. This has included thinking about their dream careers and which colleges offer programs they may be interested in.

After expressing which career paths they would like to pursue, the school invited volunteers in the chosen fields to speak with the students in person or virtually. These interviews allowed students to obtain a greater sense of what the jobs entail, as well as the challenges and what they need to achieve.

Those interviewed by the students included Nicole Gonzalez, owner of digital marketing agency SolAssistance; Crystal Sanchez, a baker at Melina’s Munchies; Jonathan Salgado, a DJ and music producer; Marco Glorious, producer of the Wendy Williams Show; Maggie Lloyd, head chef at Liberty Street Bistro; James A. Gagliano, a retired supervisory special agent with the FBI; Tiffany Gagliano, an attorney and Dean of School of Business at Mount Saint Mary College; Alisha Evans, an LPN; William Fox, an FDNY firefighter; and Joseph Merlino, an engineer and soccer player.
