The Gidney Avenue Memorial School’s Fine and Performing Arts Department hosted an art show and concert last Wednesday.
The art show, which displayed artwork from 200 fourth and fifth graders, was staged in the lobby and entry hallways. The theme was “GAMS CAFE!” Ceramics, painted works and giant stuffed 3D art graced the building as families and musicians arrived for the musical concert.
The orchestra, band and chorus, consisting of over 100 musicians, performed music of all styles and cultures. They filled the performing space with lyrical melodies from the strings to a variety of songs from young voices.
The live concert was the first in three years and was a thrill for the performers as well as the families and friends in attendance.
