City of Newburgh Memorial Day Parade Scheduled

City of Newburgh Special Events Coordinator Regina Angelo and the Newburgh Memorial Day Parade Committee have announced that the Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 30, 2022.

Invitations are being mailed to participating organizations. Applications can also be picked up in the lobby of City Hall or by calling Angelo at (845) 565-5429. 

All veterans and veteran groups, churches and their families are welcome to participant and join the parade for this solemn day.

Line-up for the parade will be at 9:15 a.m. and step-off will be at 10:00 a.m. sharp. To avoid confusion, please line up where you are directed and adhere to the Division’s Marshall’s Instructions.

There will be public services held at Washington’s Headquarters immediately after the parade (approximately 11:30 a.m.). All veterans will be honored.

Flags will be distributed at the City of Newburgh Activity Center, 401 Washington Street on Saturday, May 28th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Cemetery visitations will be on, May 29th. The motorcade will depart on Sunday from the monument at the former American Legion Hall, 62 Grand Street at 8:30 a.m. sharp.

Memorial Day observances in the City of Newburgh will conclude with reading of the names of all deceased veterans since World War I at Orange County Veterans Memorial, at the intersection of Liberty Street and Leroy Place, at 3:00 p.m. on May 30, 2022. Members who would like to read the names of their veterans are most welcome to do so.

This parade is to pay respect to those brave soldiers that have served and died so each of us can enjoy our freedom. Anyone marching is encouraged to do so with honor, dignity and respect.
