January 9, 1922 – April 29, 2022 (age 100)
Eileen Adair Meehan, a long-time resident of the area, entered into rest on Friday, April 29, 2022. Eileen was 100 years old. The daughter of the late William and Carolyn Smith Meehan, she was born in Newburgh, NY on January 9, 1922.
Eileen graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and worked as a career bookkeeper at Mastic Tile of Newburgh, then at Tarkett of New Windsor. Eileen was an especially devoted and religious woman who was a member of the Third Order of the Dominican Sisters of Mount Saint Mary.
In addition to her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her siblings, Jacqueline Meehan, Rev. Warren Meehan, SST, William Meehan, Thelma Meehan and Sister Mary Carolyn Meehan, OP. Left to cherish her memory are her nieces, Jacqueline Meehan and Maureen Smith (Kenneth) of New Windsor, and Kathleen Welt (Carroll) of Rock Tavern; and great-nieces and nephews Dr. Kenneth Smith, Kelly Smith, Eileen Welt and Paul Welt (Rachel).
The family would like to thank Desiree and Niesha and all of Eileen’s caregivers, especially Ashley, her loving and devoted caregiver.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Catholic mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Church, Marlboro, with burial following in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Marlboro.
