Kingston Man Wanted for Raping Child and Skipping Bail

New York State’s bail reform policies struck again. A Kingston man who was arrested and charged with Class A felonies for allegedly raping a child was allowed to post bail, failed to appear in court, and may now be attempting to flee the country. The New York State Police are now tasked with cleaning up the mess.

The State Police are seeking the public’s help in finding the alleged child molester. Luis D. Fernandez, age 46 of Kingston, is wanted for multiple felony charges including Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a Class A felony; Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the 1st degree, a Class B felony; and four counts of Rape in the 1st degree, a Class B felony.

In addition to being wanted by the New York State Police, Fernandez is also wanted by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

The State Police believe Fernandez may be attempting to flee to Puerto Rico. Anyone with information regarding Fernandez’s whereabouts should contact the State Police at (518) 622-8600. Information will be kept confidential if requested.
