City of Newburgh Holds Community-Wide Cleanup

The City of Newburgh and Safe Harbors of the Hudson held their tenth annual Newburgh Community Cleanup event last Saturday. The event kicked off a city-wide effort to keep Newburgh clean and green all year.

Teachers, students, and their families from Horizons-on-the Hudson School also gathered to participate in the cleanup. The families met at the school and were provided gloves and trash bags by Safe Harbors. The efforts were led by Jamillah Jacobs, a student’s mother, who has been participating in the community cleanup since she was 10 years old.

The cleanup featured a musical performance by students from the Newburgh Enlarged City School District using recycled instruments, a Community Construction Student project and an herb gardening workshop. Refreshments will also be served.
