New Windsor to Resume Bicycle Patrols

The New Windsor Police Department’s Bicycle Patrol Unit will resume townwide operations on May 1, Town Supervisor George Meyers announced today.

The unit will be on patrol in numerous housing developments for the remainder of the spring and summer months. The Town Board established this unit last year in hopes of increasing interaction between the police and the community.

Meyers stated, “The Bicycle Patrol Unit is part of our community policing endeavor and will not only make our town safer, but it will put our officers in direct contact with our residents in town.”

The feedback last year was positive from the residents as well as the officers assigned to the unit. Resident are invited to stop the officers and say hello.
