The Fostertown School, part of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, has begun their “Change for Change” contest.
Formerly known as “Coin Wars,” the contest involves students bringing in baggies filled with coins and filling the jug designated for their respective grade. There are six jugs total, representing grades kindergarten through fifth grade. The grade that has the jug with the most coins (not the most value) wins an ice cream party.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Newburgh Ministry, which provides temporary housing for homeless men and women. They also collect donations of toiletries, canned foods, baby items and clothing.
