Catherine A. Dellamarco

August 20, 1944 – April 22, 2022 (age 77)

New Windsor, NY

Catherine Dellamarco entered into eternal rest peacefully in the comfort of her beloved home surrounded by her son and daughter-in-law after a courageous battle with PSP. She was 77. The daughter of the late Samuel and Dorothy (Monks) Hunt, she was born August 20, 1944 in Warwick, NY, and was raised on her parents’ farm where her love for animals began. She had many pets in her lifetime, but her black cat Mindy Lou was her companion and protector watching over her as her disease progressed.

Cathy attended Mt. St. Mary College where she earned her degree as an LPN. She retired from The Arc Greater Hudson Valley in Campbell Hall, NY where she worked as an LPN and Direct Aide personnel.  She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church where she taught CCD, was a member of Catholic Daughters Court Patricia #195, and a member and past president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 1796.

She loved to dance, swim, read, play the organ, and collect and make dolls. She had an entire bedroom for them to be displayed. She was a huge Marilyn Monroe fan…if it had Marilyn on it, she bought it. Her yearly birthday trips to Saratoga Racetrack gave her great pleasure. She was strong-willed and determined no matter what she put her mind to. She will be fondly remembered for her love, kindness, generosity, and her warm and caring personality. She was a loving mother and loved by many and will be missed by all.

Survivors include her son William Wanamaker and his wife, the daughter she never had, Dyan Falanga, of New Windsor; her sister Jeanne Gullette (Arthur); grandchildren Lauren and Oronzo Guida of Lake Worth, FL; great-grandchildren Gianna, Oronzo III and Elliana Guida; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene Dellamarco in 2013.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all caregivers for their caring and kindness to her and her family for these last two years.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 29 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Catholic mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, NY.

Donations in Catherine’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at http://www.stjude.org.
