Orange County Receives $1.2M Federal Grant for Head Start Programs

Orange County received a $1.2 million grant for Head Start programs in Orange County, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney announced yesterday.

The $1,271,031 grant, mostly focused on the City of Newburgh, is part of over $10 million that has been secured for Head Start programs over the last several years throughout the Congressional District. Head Start programs focus on school readiness skills by providing holistic comprehensive support for health, education, nutrition, and parental involvement.

“Every child deserves a good education and strong foundation for success,” said Maloney. “This grant will ensure kids in Newburgh and across Eastern Orange County, regardless of socioeconomic status, have the opportunities they deserve.”

Janett Rodriguez, Executive Director for Head Start of Eastern Orange County, added, “This funding is crucial to continue our mission of providing high quality education & services to children & families in Newburgh and Eastern Orange County.”
