Honor Flight Held at Stewart Airport

Another series of the Honor Flight program was held at Stewart International Airport recently. Eighty-one veterans attended to fly to Washington, D.C. for the day to visit all the war memorials.

The Newburgh Free Academy Junior ROTC were on hand to greet the veterans as they prepared to board their flight.

Hudson Valley Honor Flight is a non-profit organization which honors American veterans for their sacrifices. They transport the veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials at no cost to them. This is a local hub of the National Honor Flight Network, which consists of over 100 independent non-profit hubs across America.

Top priority is given to those of the Greatest Generation, that of World War II, and terminally ill veterans from other wars. However, the organization plans to take all veterans from other wars on future flights.
