Newburgh, NY
Josephine E. Sheehan, age 94, of Newburgh, NY passed away peacefully on April 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family members.
Josephine was born to Margaret Coonan and Thomas Edward Maher on October 1, 1927 in Newburgh, NY. She was a proud, life-long resident of Newburgh, NY. She was married to William E. Sheehan on December 4, 1956. Josephine and William often spent their time taking long drives and visiting their favorite places around the Hudson Valley. They would frequently visit William’s home town of Roseton, NY and sit along the Hudson River to relax, enjoy the beautiful view, and wait for the train to go by.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Josephine, including spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She loved to bake during the holidays, making an assortment of pies, pastries and cakes for everyone to enjoy. She would feed anyone that walked through her door, no matter what she had in her cabinets. She would find a way to comfort anyone in need.
Josephine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newburgh, NY and a devout Catholic.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years and their children: Kathleen Trappe (Robert), Margaret Raymond (Dennis), Kim Maines (Roger), Joann Woodruff (Christopher), Sharon Hectus (John), and Ellen Woodruff (Paul).

Along with five (5) great granddaughters: Shay Cloidt, Brooklynn Maines, Eva Woodruff, Rylee Roth, and Aurora Hoheusle.
Josephine was a kind, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was treasured by many and will be sorely missed.
