The New York State Police are investigating a laser that was pointed at an aircraft over New Windsor.
On Monday, April 2, 2022, a commercial passenger flight was heading northbound over Stewart Field when a pilot encountered a laser being shined at the front left of the aircraft. The laser reportedly came from an unlit area between Stewart Airport and the Hudson River.
The pilot notified Boston Control Tower in New Hampshire. The tower supervisor then notified the New York State Police.
The pilot of the aircraft was later interviewed by State Police investigators. He stated that he was flying a Republic Airways E1-70 aircraft northbound when a green laser was pointed at the left area of the cockpit. The pilot stated at his altitude was approximately 17,000 feet at the time of the incident.
