NFA Students Tour Historic Newburgh

A group of Newburgh Free Academy students had an opportunity to tour historical sites in the City of Newburgh this week.

NFA teachers Ginny McCurdy and Jennine Sileno brought their classes on their annual field trip to discover the historical sites. The trip is typically taken in the fall but was delayed due to COVID. In place of the fall trip, students read articles by City of Newburgh Historian Mary McTamaney.

Students toured Washington Headquarters, complete with the Victory Tower, and ate lunch in the Green Room of Safe Harbors.

While on tour, students viewed the new Junior Curator Project that NFA freshmen worked on in the Spring of 2020. That project is now being exhibited in the museum. The ribbon cutting to the new Junior Curator Project exhibit will be on April 20th, 2022.
