Adonna Rose Raab

August 1, 1948-March 27, 2022 (age 73)

Newburgh, NY

Adonna Raab, 73, born Adonna Rose Riglioni, of Newburgh died peacefully at home, the morning of March 27, 2022.

Adonna was born at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh to Joseph and Lillian (Davis) Riglioni. She is the sister of Adrienne and Carmen Torelli, Joseph and Susan Riglioni, and Anthony and Virginia Riglioni.

Adonna grew up on Montgomery Street in the City of Newburgh, before moving up to the heights on Henry Ave. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1966 and the rest is Newburgh history.

Adonna’s amazing smile and boisterous laugh were a welcoming gateway to the many friends she found in her youth. It was one fateful day, full of music, dancing and laughter, that she met James E. Raab, also of Newburgh, and a never-ending love began. The two were married, and, shortly thereafter, Adonna devoted her life to her family, bringing Brian, Eric, Jennifer Raab into this world. As her family grew so did her brothers, sisters, cousins and friends. Nothing brought her more joy in life than gathering with them all. She was a selfless matriarch, not only to her own children, but to any of her loved one’s as well. Her nieces, nephews and more called her Aunt Donna, and she would sing, dance, craft, and love her never-ending family through all their highs and lows. She was always there for you, offering anything she could, and that continued into the next generations, especially when she became Nana to Annmarie, Rosalie, Connor, Luca and Matteo.

She was an angel, made for another time, who cared deeply about her family, past and present, and she will be missed beyond understanding.

A memorial gathering to remember and celebrate Adonna’s life, filled with stories, laughter, joy and dancing, is being arranged. Details will come through friends and family. All who loved her are welcome.
