The Vails Gate STEAM Academy, part of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, held a pep rally this morning for their 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students who are preparing for the upcoming New York State Exams.
School Principal Ciria Briscoe-Perez was the emcee for the morning. Along with her teachers, the principal ensured her students were energetic and engaged. Music blared as the scholars entered the gymnasium holding pom-poms and signs with words of encouragement for the future exam takers.
The younger students from kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades showered their “Gator Buddies” with words of affirmation. The room was filled with smiles as the students and teachers danced to the music.
The volume was lowered briefly to allow Instructional Coach Allison Roberts to share with scholars ways to be prepared on exam day, beginning with a good night’s sleep the night before and a healthy breakfast the morning of. Students were provided this information in a kit as they exited the gym.
The energy in the building was “all the way up!” and Vails Gate scholars were given a well-deserved jolt of confidence as they prepare for the New York State exams.
